I bought it as an alternative to my Rode NT1-A, a higher rated mic that generally costs about twice as much as the AT-2020. I have done home recording for several years, and I find this mic is worth having.
#AT2020 USB CONDENSER PROFESSIONAL#
This is not a professional mic, but for the money it is a very good buy and, in my opinion, outperforms some other more expensive (and higher rated) condenser mics that I own or have used.

One thing I will say, though, is that this mic probably doesn't sound as "up front" as more expensive condensers, that is, it does sound a bit "spacey" or "distant" if you place it at a normal distance for a condenser, however, this mic doesn't get too bassy when placed relatively close to a source (4-5"), which sort of makes up for this "spacy sound," I guess.Īll in all, this mic has an interesting sound for a condenser: people looking for a bright, snappy condenser that will give tracks a bit more "room to breathe" will love this unique-sounding mic. On my 1x12 guitar cabinet, I found that I like the mic about 4-5" away from this distance it gives an bright, ambient sound that isn't as "in your face" as my e906 is, which really helps to make the guitar track fill out more when I pan. There isn't much warmth, but keep in mind I'm using a pre that is desi gned to supply power and nothing else and then there's the fact that all the reviews I read said this mic was a bit bright, so if you're looking for warm, fat sounds, this mic is probably not the best choice. I'm very pleased with the sound: bright, crisp, detailed, and responds to different distances.ĭespite the fact that the preamp I ordered came with a bad power supply and I consequently am currently forced to use the phantom power on my computer interface (which is not really designed to be a stunning preamp), the mic sounds very clear and full. I needed a better vocal mic, and a mic to use on my recording cabinet along with my e609 (one of the few good dynamic instrument mics). The reviews said that this mic worked well, was made in the USA, and that it was a bit bright: it sounded perfect for my purposes. This limited-edition microphone comes with an AT8458a shock mount to attenuate noise, shock, and vibration, a 5/8"-27 to 3/8"-16 threaded adapter, a 10' (3.1 m) USB cable, and a soft protective pouch.Well, I've slowly started to become disenchanted with dynamic mics, and so I decided to buy my own tube mic. The microphone's cardioid pickup pattern delivers excellent off-axis rejection, while its A/D converter with a 16-bit, 44.1/48 kHz sampling rate ensures extremely articulate sound reproduction. It also offers a mix control that blends microphone and pre-recorded audio. The AT2020USB+V features a built-in headphone jack with volume control that allows you to directly monitor your microphone signal with no delay. Ideal for podcasting, streaming, home studio recording, and voiceover use, the AT2020USB+V gives you the power to present your vision with the convenience of plug-and-play USB operation. The limited-edition AT2020USB+V adds a reflective silver finish to the AT2020USB+, celebrating the mic's clear, studio-quality sound and mirroring its true creative force - you!
